Ms. Karen, a seasoned mentor with over 25 years of experience, brings her passion for Montessori education and respect for children’s development to MMP School. A Montessori certified Primary Guide, RIE Foundations graduate, and South Carolina registered trainer, Karen draws from her rich professional and personal journey to create nurturing environments that inspire independence, empathy, and growth and support other early childhood professionals in the journey.

Karen’s teaching philosophy is rooted in her respect for children- she is continually inspired by the collaborative teaching team at MMP School and their shared dedication to nurturing young learners. In the classroom, Karen builds sequential materials that cater to children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs. She emphasizes independence and freedom within clear boundaries, using gentle redirection and consistent choices to guide behavior. Her connection with nature, cultivated during her own childhood spent exploring the outdoors, informs her approach to fostering a sense of wonder and responsibility in her students.

As Karen transitions roles from the lead teacher position to training and consultation, she envisions MMP School as a place where both children and fellow educators can grow and thrive. She hopes her students leave with the confidence to make thoughtful choices and the empathy to care for others and their environment. To parents, she offers this encouragement: “It’s the most wonderful feeling to be a parent. Mistakes are a part of the journey, and that’s okay.”
