Ms. Megan

Head of School

For the past twenty-five years, Ms. Megan has helped shape and direct the vision at MMP School in collaboration with David and Nicole. Megan has served the program in the capacity of Primary Lead Teacher, Curriculum Coordinator, and, for the past fifteen years, Head of School and Mentor Teacher Trainer. Ms. Megan’s talents as an early childhood teacher were recognized by Good Magazine where she was awarded Top 5 Teacher of the Year. Megan's credentials are too numerous to list, but include a BA in Political Science, AMI Montessori (ages 3-6) credential, RIE Foundations, Pikler Intensive training, and Orton-Gillingham.

Growing up in a picturesque New England town, Megan learned the importance of community and collaboration early on. Her journey into education began during her college years when she worked with autistic children. This experience instilled in her a profound appreciation for the uniqueness of every child and the importance of honoring their individuality. Her teaching career took her to a trilingual International Montessori School in the Bay Area of California, where she developed cultural sensitivity and adaptability—skills she continues to bring to her work with children and families.

When Megan moved to Charleston in 2000, she discovered MMP School and immediately fell in love with its location and supportive environment. Encouraged to grow in her practice as a young teacher, Megan found a professional home that allowed her to flourish. Over the years, she has remained committed to creating a school community that emphasizes long-term relationships, mutual trust, and a love for learning.

Megan’s teaching philosophy centers on observation, active listening, and cultivating an environment that fosters both independence and collaboration. She believes in meeting each child where they are, guiding them with patience and understanding. Her strategies include maintaining open communication with parents and modeling a calm, respectful approach to challenges. Megan emphasizes the importance of supporting children’s natural development while helping families navigate their parenting journeys.

As a parent to two children who have benefited from a Montessori foundation, Megan has witnessed the long-term impact of this philosophy. Watching her children navigate life with competence, confidence, and kindness has reaffirmed her dedication to her work. She hopes every child who leaves MMP School carries forward the ability to think critically, build supportive relationships, and approach life with a positive attitude.

Megan envisions MMP School continuing to evolve while remaining a cherished resource in the community. To parents, she offers this timeless advice: “Enjoy the present moment with your child—it will never come again.” Megan’s leadership, empathy, and unwavering commitment to early childhood education ensure that MMP School remains a place where children and families can thrive.
