Owner

Nicole, co-owner and director of MMP School, is a visionary in early childhood education with a commitment to fostering environments where children, families, and educators can thrive. With a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, a Spanish minor, and certifications including AMS Montessori Early Childhood (3-6), RIE Foundations (under Magda Gerber), Pikler Pedagogue training, and MACTE teacher trainer accreditation, Nicole has combined her diverse expertise to make a transformative impact on the field.

Nicole’s professional journey began as an international food export trader in Southeast Asia. After a yearlong sabbatical traveling the U.S. in an RV with her husband, Nicole returned to her roots in Charleston, South Carolina, joining her family’s preschool. Observing the unique dynamics of MMP School ignited Nicole’s passion for early childhood education and shaped her belief in the critical importance of the first six years of life.

Her contributions to the field are numerous and groundbreaking. Nicole wrote and was awarded a grant to establish the first public charter school in Mount Pleasant, also becoming Charleston County’s first public Montessori charter school. She directed the first RIE-certified Infant Center on the East Coast, a milestone achievement in early education. Nicole is also the co-producer of the acclaimed “Being with Infants” video training series, widely used by educators and caregivers. An accomplished writer, Nicole is the author of The Child Centered blog and has been published in Educarer, a RIE publication. Her work has also been featured in the RIE Manual for Parents and Professionals, further solidifying her role as a thought leader in early childhood education.

Nicole’s teaching philosophy centers on respect, observation, and fostering continuity of care. She advocates for environments that adapt to children’s developmental needs, ensuring that transitions are seamless and supportive. This approach emphasizes the importance of community, collaboration, and a shared vision among educators and families. Her efforts have helped elevate early childhood education from being seen as a commodity to being recognized for its profound impact on human development.

Nicole envisions MMP School as a dynamic hub encompassing three pillars: a demonstration center, a teacher training facility, and a family resource center. She continues to mentor educators and guide parents, ensuring that her vision of a holistic, child-centered education is accessible to all.

To parents, Nicole offers this wisdom: “Accept and trust your child. Observe and adapt your environment to meet their needs—this builds the foundation for them to thrive.”
